Position OverviewAn Administrative Support Assistant 3 in the Building and Construction division works under the supervision of the Bureau Chief at our central office near Valley Junction in Des Moines, Iowa. The role supports the Contractor Registration program within the Environmental Health and Contractor Bureau.

- Experience developing and providing training material for staff.

- Vision to move programs and processes to a new efficient licensing platform.
- You will be an integral member of our team, providing administrative program assistance to the department in support of the agency’s operations by:
- Providing customer assistance for permits, certifications, licensees and the public.
- Supporting the department’s strategic communications plan.
- Developing outreach and communications social media strategies and content.
- Communicating with professional boards.
- Writing, designing, and editing program manuals, public information, websites, and reports.
- Utilizing metrics in the preparation of strategic recommendations.

- Two years of full‑time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work.
- A total of two years of education and/or full‑time experience, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full‑time experience.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full‑time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 2 or eighteen months of full‑time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1.
Within a period of time after hire, as determined by the appointing authority, employees in this class may be required to type at least 40 WPM net as demonstrated by the completion of a typing examination.
