The Licensing Unit within the Food Safety Bureau is responsible for review and processing applications and renewals, issuing license, fielding complaints and overseeing customer service for the Bureau.
This position is located at 6200 Park Ave, Des Moines, Iowa.
Position OverviewThe Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing is recruiting an Administrative Support Assistant 3 to serve as the Licensing Clerk for the Food Safety Bureau. This position will manage license application processes for food, lodging and social and charitable gambling and will serve as a primary contact for applicants and the general public.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Licensing Clerk who will assist in the daily operations of the Bureau.
Under direct supervision, the Licensing Clerk will:
- Review documents for accuracy and further process or reject based upon requirements.
- Respond to inquiries from applicants, licensees and the public.
- Manage the license application processes and maintain records.
- Provide non-technical regulatory information and assistance to the public and regulated entities via written and oral communication.
- Refers to subject matter experts or agencies as appropriate.

Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
