Admissions And Financial Support Specialist
Provide support to the student population through the transition into college in the areas of enrollment, financial aid, and student account processes. This support may be done in one-on-one and/or group settings. Engage in district-wide recruitment and enrollment activities and promotional events on and off campus under the guidance of the Director of Recruitment and Admission.
Essential functions include providing assistance to students inquiring about or applying to DMACC and processing course registrations. On-site, and off-site provide individualized information and support on entrance requirements for programs and courses and assist students in completing the necessary steps to be admitted and/or register for college entry and classes. Collect necessary support documentation the student needs to provide and enter those documents in the College's student records system.
Schedule student appointments with advisors and counselors. Provide financial aid information and services to students. Assist students in establishing payment plans, receive and process student tuition payments and miscellaneous fees, and reconcile daily receipts. Support the completion of financial assistance applications (FAFSA, scholarships, supplemental materials, etc.) and necessary supporting documents. Provide support and assist with general student services office operations at the direction of local student services office/operations, including but not limited to visit days, family nights, campus tours, college fairs, and community outreach programming.
While adhering to Tuition office and Business Office standards, perform clerical functions for campus students, the Business Office, and non-credit students seeking assistance on campus. Accept payments for other departments, make deposits for clubs and departments, manage reimbursements of over payments, recover receipts, accept payments for various college systems and services, balance and close cash box and prepare deposits. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications include an associate's degree (high school diploma and two years of related experience may substitute for associate's degree), one year of general office experience which includes computer experience and substantial public contact, strong communication skills, ability to plan, organize and manage time, demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds, and knowledge of current software applications.
Desired qualifications include a bachelor's degree, experience in an educational institution preferably in student services, knowledge of educational databases (Banner, People Soft, Work Day, Datatel, etc.), experience with data analysis and reporting, and ability to speak and understand a language in addition to English.
