Company Description

The Jewish Federation of Greater Des Moines is a central hub for the Jewish community in Greater Des Moines and surrounding areas in Central Iowa. It coordinates diverse programs and supports community needs such as senior assistance, supplementary education, and community relations. The Federation serves as a unified voice for Jewish interests through action, education, and community initiatives.

Role Description

The Office Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in the Des Moines metropolitan area in Iowa, responsible for the smooth daily operations of the Federation’s office. This role oversees office administration, including organizing mailings, maintaining CRM records, providing IT support, managing vendor services, coordinating meetings and events, and ensuring efficient use of office equipment and supplies. The Office Manager serves as a primary point of contact for visitors, staff, and community partners, providing courteous customer service and directing inquiries appropriately.

They support leadership and program staff with administrative assistance, such as preparing documents, tracking expenses, and organizing events or community meetings. The Office Manager also helps maintain a professional, welcoming environment that reflects the Federation’s mission and values.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong office administration and Administrative Assistance skills to manage daily operations, scheduling, recordkeeping, and support for staff and programs.
  • Candidates should possess effective communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication, professional email etiquette, and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse community members.
  • Candidates should possess customer service skills to greet visitors, respond to inquiries, and provide supportive, solution-oriented assistance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Candidates should possess proficiency with office equipment and computer applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, email, task/project management and calendaring tools) to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include strong organizational and time-management skills, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience in nonprofit or community-based organizations is preferred but not required.
  • Relevant certifications in office administration, technical tools, or related fields are a plus.
