About Rob Sand

Auditor Rob Sand is Iowa’s only statewide elected Democrat. In the first 24 hours in the race Rob raised an Iowa record $2.25m. Immediately after Rob’s entry into the race, Cook Political Report released an updated rating on the Iowa governor’s race, moving it from “Solid Republican” to “Lean Republican,” a rare “‘double jump' rating change,” calling Rob the “strongest contender his party could have recruited for the open seat.”

Position Overview

The Operations Director will serve as the logistics backbone of the campaign. They will design and implement systems that support Human Resources, Scheduling, Advance, Security, and Vendor Relations. This position requires someone who is obsessively organized and is an eager problem solver. Prior experience in an operations, advance, or scheduling role on a political campaign is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Candidate Travel:
    Support statewide travel, advance, and event logistics. Work directly with campaign staff, venues, and vendors to ensure smooth execution of events.
  • Scheduling:
    Manage the campaign’s scheduler and ensure the campaign’s calendar is reflective of strategic priorities.
  • Human Resources:
    Develop systems that support hiring and on-boarding of staff, tracking time-off requests, managing employee benefits, and ensuring handbook compliance.
  • Vendor Management:
    Work directly with venues and vendors to lease office space, set-up utilities, hire event security, rent event venues.
  • Campaign Finance and Compliance:
    Support campaign finance and compliance teams as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years experience in scheduling, advance, operations, and/or compliance. At least one cycle working directly for a political campaign is preferred.
