The Team Leader – Market Solutions (Portfolio) leads a team of Market Solutions Managers and Product Owners responsible for developing and delivering customer‑centric insurance solutions that advance Wellmark’s competitive strategy. In this role, you will drive discovery, coordination, enablement and execution through the Agile product model, ensuring solutions for Medicare/Medicare Advantage, ACA, and Midsize segments are aligned to market insights, competitive strategy and regulatory requirements.
You will serve as a key connector across underwriting, finance, sales, operations, compliance and external vendors, managing complex initiatives from concept through execution. In addition to portfolio execution, you will optimise team performance, strengthen scalable processes, manage backlog and dependencies, and ensure product strategies deliver measurable bottom‑line results.

You are a strategic product leader with strong analytical acumen and deep experience in product management and strategy within a highly regulated environment. You bring the ability to translate market insights, customer needs and regulatory requirements into actionable roadmaps that balance growth, risk and operational feasibility.
You are equally comfortable coaching and developing high‑performing teams as you are presenting to senior leaders and influencing decisions. You anticipate interdependencies and navigate ambiguity with confidence and adaptability.
a. Provide day‑to‑day leadership of financial and human resources, primarily focusing on employee and leader coaching, development, performance improvement, coordination and budgeting for multiple staff, and department(s) specific functions/services.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience.
- Minimum of 5+ years of related experience:
In product development, product management, or related role, with demonstrated abilities in working with insurance experts, including state and federal regulators such as CMS. - Demonstrated financial acumen, including an understanding of underwriting, financial metrics, etc. Prior experience should reflect the ability to build, implement and drive forward product strategies that achieve bottom‑line results.
- Strong relationship management skills including vendor management and vendor relationships.
- Leadership in developing and delivering complex programs/projects from concept through implementation. Skilled at ensuring quality, time and stakeholder expectations are met while maintaining alignment with strategy.
- Self‑starter who works well under pressure while remaining adaptable, open to feedback and focused during unanticipated challenges.
- Ability to optimise team performance, balance team initiatives and work, enhance processes and effectively lead teams through change.
- Balances subject‑matter expertise and business acumen with strong understanding of customers’ needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effectively presents information and facilitates discussions with stakeholders, including senior or executive leaders.
- Strong critical thinking skills. Thinks up/downstream and evaluates interdependencies.
- Ability to measure and evaluate work processes, services and products in order to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Ability to support team members with creative problemsolving and identifying/implementing process improvements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) and other web‑based applications.
