JOB DESCRIPTIONOverview
The Iowa House Victory Fund (HVF) is seeking resumes for qualified candidates interested in serving as the Finance Assistant for a statewide legislative caucus finance program. This would be a full‑time, campaign position running through November 15, 2026. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow as a political fundraising staffer while working with multiple candidates, elected officials, donors, campaign managers and caucus staff.
This position will report to the Finance Director and work closely with the Executive Director, HVF central staff, campaign managers, candidates, incumbents, donors, and event hosts.
Duties and Responsibilities
The HVF Finance Assistant will be responsible for supporting the 2026 HVF finance program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists Finance Director with call time including preparation, staffing, and follow up for the Leader, incumbents or candidates;
- Assists Finance Director with preparation of materials for donor meetings;
- Assists Finance Director in logistics for caucus and candidates fundraising events and assists with event staffing;
- Maintains caucus donor databases;
- Assists Finance Director with execution of caucus finance plan, which includes soliciting $5,000+ contributions as well as low-dollar contributions;
- Assists the Finance Director on assisting incumbents and candidates with developing and executing their own successful fundraising plans.
Requirements
Qualified candidates must be highly organized, highly motivated and capable of working through a demanding work environment.
Additionally, candidates must have:
- Previous campaign fundraising experience preferred but not required;
- Self‑starter with the ability to show strong organizational and planning skills while working long hours in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment;
- Proficient with Google Suite programs;
- NGP‑VAN, Numero, and Act Blue experience is a plus but not required;
- Reliable transportation (position will at times require travel around the state);
- The ability to work extended hours, including occasional nights and weekends as needed;
- Be willing to relocate to Des Moines, IA.
