What’sHealth Care Innovation (HCI) Operations at Wellmark?The Health Care Innovation Operations team brings together diversespecialtiesthat support initiatives across the division and enterprise.

Asan intern,you will gainbroad exposure whilecontributingto strategic priorities.

You willbuildvaluable skills inprocess improvement, compliance, audit, legal functions, data visualization, intelligenceresearchandcross-functional collaborationacrossmultipleprojectswithinan agile framework.

What projects might I support?Some examples of the work you may be responsible for during your internship:

• Collaboratewithleaders and teamson small-scale deliverables,build professional relationships,and gain exposure to cross-divisionalwork acrossWellmark
• SupportHCI Intelligenceresearch requestsandhelp produce the monthly newsletter
• Contribute to operational initiatives thatimprovesystems and processes,buildshared understanding,incorporatelegislative and regulatory requirements, create repeatable solutions, anddeliveractionable insights
• Support emerging AI initiatives, legislative changes, and cross-functional priorities
• Strengthen your health care business acumen while working in a collaborative, self-directed team environment

This internship will start in May of 2027, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines.

• Current junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in communication, English, business administration, public health, healthcare management, or related business program.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with various business areas
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent research, problem solving with the ability to develop proactive solution sand presentation skills
• Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications
:

• Previous internship or office experience
• Previous experience or interest in health insurance
• Practical experience using AI tools
