What’sOperationsat Wellmark?

Our Operations division has over six hundred employees who manage important work such as enrolling our members, loading benefits,credentialing our providers,sendingdocuments, paying claims, answering calls, training our employees, Operations Compliance, Operations Analytics, and Quality Assurance. We are one team united to provide the best service for our members and providers.

What projects might I support?

Although subject to change, examples ofinitiativesare included below:

• Provide day to day experiences of collaboration and partnership with various leaders and teams; focus on small scale deliverables, building interpersonal relationships, exposure to cross divisional elements of the Wellmark organization
• Work closely with subject matter experts tocreatedesk-level procedures and process/system documentation intouser-friendly documentation
• Collaborate with Operations Analytics on reporting and data analysis
• Take lead on ad hoc research projects and share findings on online provider information
• Provide testing support by documenting traceability and findings toensureaccurateandtimelyoutcomes
• Desire to strengthen business acumen in health care industry and self-driven team environment

This internship will start in May of 2027, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines.

• Mustbea currentsophomorestudentstudying
  
  Operations, Finance, Engineering, Business Insurance, Health Care Management, Risk Management & Insurance, Business Management, Business Analytics, or related programs.
• Excellent research skills and profound curiosity to dig deep to find insights.
• Strong collaboration,presentationandorganizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with the business areas.
• Ability to see a taskthrough to completion independently and as a team member.
• Proven problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Demonstrated project leadership skills with the ability to take initiative.

• Prior experience in a business setting.
• Previousexperiencewriting and executing manual test cases.
