Are you a proactive early childhood professional who thrives in leadership and operational coordination? As the Child Development Center Coordinator, you will play a critical role in the day‑to‑day success of the Child Development Center. Working under the oversight of the Child Care Director, you will help ensure smooth daily operations, maintain compliance with licensing and accreditation standards, and support staff in delivering high-quality early childhood programming.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Program Operations & Leadership Support
  • Support the Child Care Director in coordinating daily center operations, ensuring compliance with licensing, funding, accreditation, and QA/QI standards
  • Provide oversight of assigned focus areas, including observation of staff‑child‑parent interactions, constructive feedback, documentation and compliance tracking, and leading staff meetings in the Director’s absence to support continuous program improvement.
Staff Supervision & Development
  • Support daily staffing operations by monitoring attendance, maintaining required staff‑to‑child ratios, assigning schedules, and assisting in classrooms or on field trips as needed.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and maintaining staff personnel files to ensure compliance with education and training requirements, while providing coaching and mentoring to support curriculum implementation and quality standards.
Curriculum, Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Maintain working knowledge of Creative Curriculum Gold, LAP:

    BK, ASQ/ASQ‑SE, IQ4K, PBIS, SACERS/ECERS/ITERS, CACFP, Early Head Start requirements, and Trauma‑Informed Care. Assist with assessment tracking, referrals, and communication with community partners.
  • Conduct classroom walkthroughs, case file reviews, and other quality monitoring activities. Ensure required safety drills, inspections, and compliance documentation are completed and recorded.
Facility & Safety Oversight
  • Promote a safe, secure, and welcoming physical environment for children and staff. Monitor building and playground safety and proactively address maintenance concerns.
  • Oversee completion and documentation of fire/tornado drills, safety checks, and first aid inventory. Maintain compliance with transportation safety standards when transporting children.
Volunteer & Community Engagement
  • Coordinate volunteers and special programs (e.g., Book Buddies) and assist with extracurricular activities and projects.
  • Support ongoing communication with families and community referral partners.
Administrative & Operational Support
  • Assist with child enrollments, parent tours, and preparation of enrollment materials.
  • Provide front desk and receptionist coverage as needed. Support file management, administrative documentation, and program recordkeeping.
  • Collaborate with Program Directors and office staff to ensure efficient administrative operations.
Requirements WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED Education & Experience
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or training program.
  • Experience working with children of diverse ages and backgrounds in a professional childcare or educational setting.
  • Medication administration certification (maintained and current).
  • Must meet DHS points‑based requirements for an on‑site supervisor.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic childcare environment.
  • Knowledge of early childhood curriculum frameworks and regulatory requirements, with solid analytical, problem‑solving, and basic math skills (including percentages and graph interpretation).
Special Requirements
  • Maintain all required training and certifications per licensing, accreditation, funding, and agency standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Must maintain a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier. May be required to obtain a Chauffeur’s license.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with an active childcare environment, including frequent lifting up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of heavier items (up to 75 pounds with assistance).
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to occasionally loud noise levels.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations, manage conflict, and handle bodily fluids as necessary.
