Superintendent – Des Moines, IA

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced construction leader to oversee on-site operations across multiple projects in the Des Moines metro area. Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of experience as a commercial construction superintendent
  • Senior superintendent candidates typically have seven to ten plus years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, means, and methods
  • OSHA Ten Hour certification required
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and site activities simultaneously
  • Proficiency with scheduling tools and basic computer applications
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Provide full on-site supervision and coordination of commercial construction projects
  • Plan, schedule, and direct daily field activities to ensure timely and on-budget delivery
  • Develop and enforce site logistics plans, safety programs, and quality standards
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections, and material deliveries
  • Lead preconstruction meetings, coordination meetings, and daily huddles
  • Maintain daily reports, schedules, payroll, quantity tracking, and all site documentation
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety requirements and company policies
  • Mentor field staff and support team development
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
