Overview
Responsible for both pre-construction of commercial doors & hardware estimating and project management of door, frame, and hardware (DFH) projects. This role requires accurate bid preparation, cost control, execution, and successful project delivery.
- Review bid invitations and identify upcoming projects for weekly evaluation.
- Perform detailed take-offs for doors, frames, and hardware from plans and specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and internal teams to clarify project requirements.
- Solicit vendor and subcontractor quotes; research and negotiate material pricing.
- Prepare comprehensive bid estimates including material, labor, and timelines.
- Track addendums and update estimates accordingly.
- Input take-offs, pricing, and discounts into estimating systems.
- Analyze awarded and lost bids to improve accuracy and competitiveness.
- Define project scope, goals, schedules, and specifications.
- Enter and maintain project data in Emullion (or equivalent system).
- Prepare and submit project submittals, cut sheets, and samples for approval.
- Incorporate revisions based on returned submittals.
- Compile and maintain organized project files and communication logs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact among contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Monitor project progress, costs, risks, and timelines.
- Adjust schedules and plans to accommodate changes.
- Prepare and issue change orders as required.
- Track material needs and ensure timely delivery.
- Order hollow metal (HM), wood doors, frames, and hardware upon approval.
- Prepare hardware sorts and coordinate shop drawings and approvals.
- Schedule shop work and coordinate vendor deliverables.
- Provide regular project status updates and performance reports.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to identify improvements.
- Ensure proper job costing, documentation, and final archiving upon completion.
- Maintain strong organization across multiple projects and communications.
- Support continuous improvement in estimating accuracy and project execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Paid time off
- Bachelors or Trade school (Preferred)
- Construction estimating: 1 year (Preferred)
