Job Description
Performance Contracting Group is seeking a Branch Safety Engineer for its PCI Des Moines 587 operations based in Des Moines, IA
. The primary responsibility of this role is to train and coach workers to ensure compliance with the PCI Target Zero Accident Prevention Plan while creating a collaborative safety culture.
Salary Range: $70,000–$92,000 annual salary plus non‑guaranteed annualized bonus program.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. This position is safety‑sensitive.
Responsibilities- Assist with implementing and administering PCG and client accident prevention plans, policies, and procedures
- Provide safety technical expertise, training, and supporting resources to the branch and workers
- Anticipate, identify, evaluate, and mitigate safety and health hazards, both routine and non‑routine
- Conduct job site inspections and audits to assess compliance with safety policies, procedures, and accident prevention plans
- Promote and enforce safe work practices among all employees through coaching and ongoing safety engagement
- Investigate and report work‑related injuries, illnesses, and near‑miss incidents, enforcing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Review all safety incidents and investigation reports to verify accuracy and completeness
- Ensure timely submission of PCG and client safety & accident reports, statistics, and documentation
- Act as a liaison between the company and clients regarding site safety management
- Establish branch and project safety goals while ensuring adherence to safety regulations
- Evaluate and approve safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, a related discipline, or comparable work experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word
- Clear understanding of how to read and interpret specifications and drawings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to learn new skills by engaging in technical job functions and applying new skills as they are taught
- Strong customer service skills and an ability to build lasting client relationships
- Critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills with an ability to work under pressure and deadlines
- Ability to prioritize projects and daily activities
- General knowledge of trade tools, equipment, and materials used in the construction industry
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations and construction safety standards
- OSHA certification
- Board of Certified Safety Professionals credential (e.g., CHST, ASP, CSP)
