The Senior Project Engineer role offers a dynamic opportunity to lead and support the estimating, scope development, and project planning processes for impactful commercial construction projects. - Collaborate with preconstruction teams and project managers to develop comprehensive and accurate conceptual and detailed cost estimates, ensuring alignment with project scope and client expectations
- Perform precise quantity take-offs of all construction systems by thoroughly reviewing project plans, specifications, and drawings to support estimation and budgeting processes
- Create, review, and refine project estimates both individually and as part of a team, maintaining detailed records of assumptions, calculations, and cost data for future reference
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor pricing for bidding, budgeting, and bid proposals; negotiate and recommend subcontractor selections based on value, scope, and experience
- Scope and select subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project requirements and maximizing value for the project
- Document final estimates, update cost databases, and maintain a comprehensive history of project costs to support future estimating and project tracking
- Develop and manage project scope documents, verifying alignment with design intent and project objectives throughout the preconstruction and construction phases
- Participate in and review buyout and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) estimates to ensure competitive and accurate budgeting
- Assist project management teams in creating and maintaining detailed preconstruction schedules, coordinating with field personnel and other stakeholders to ensure timely project milestones
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Strong understanding of construction methods, building types, and procurement processes
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed project plans
- Skilled in performing precise quantity take-offs and data analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Construction field or office experience
- Exposure to platforms like Destini Estimating, OST, Bluebeam, Building Connected, JOIN, VICO, Navisworks, and Revit
