Demolition Technician
This role focuses on interior and exterior site cleanup and support for demolition projects, including the safe removal and disposal of materials from construction and environmental remediation sites. You will contribute to maintaining clean, organized, and safe job sites while working as part of a crew on multiple projects across Iowa.
Responsibilities- Perform general interior and exterior site cleanup after demolition has been completed, ensuring work areas remain safe and orderly.
- Load broken concrete and other debris into wheelbarrows and transport materials to designated dumpsters for proper disposal.
- Sweep, vacuum, and clear dust and debris from floors, walls, and other surfaces throughout the job site.
- Assist demolition crews with moving, lifting, and handling materials and equipment as directed.
- Support interior and structural demolition activities by clearing work areas, staging materials, and following instructions from the foreman and crew leaders.
- Work upright in outdoor and indoor environments for extended periods, including in varying weather conditions.
- Report to the shop each morning at the designated time to join your assigned crew and carpool to the job site.
- Participate in daily crew organization, working in teams of approximately 5–8 people under the direction of a foreman.
- Load tools, equipment, and debris into trucks at the end of each workday and return to the shop to close out the day.
- Follow all safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for each job site.
- Maintain consistent, on-time attendance Monday through Saturday, meeting at the shop at 6:45 a.m. and remaining available for long workdays as needed.
- Remain flexible to move between different job sites based on project volume and operational needs.
- Cooperate with supervisors and team members, communicating clearly and respectfully to support efficient project completion.
- Adhere to all company policies regarding conduct, safety, and dress code while on site and at the shop.
- At least 6 months of experience in construction, physical labor, demolition, or a closely related field.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 100 pounds when needed.
- Ability to remain upright and physically active for 8–12 hours per day in a variety of work environments.
- Capability to work Monday through Saturday, arriving at the shop at approximately 6:45–7:00 a.m and staying until late afternoon or early evening as required.
- Reliability in attendance and punctuality, with the ability to consistently arrive on time and ready to work.
- Comfort working in construction and demolition settings, including handling debris, dust, and heavy materials.
- Willingness to perform repetitive physical tasks such as sweeping, lifting, hauling, and loading materials.
- Ability to follow directions from a foreman and work effectively as part of a crew.
- Basic understanding of safe work practices in demolition, construction, or labor-intensive environments.
Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in demolition, construction, landscaping, or general laborer/helper roles.
- Openness to working extended hours, including potential 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. shifts Monday through Friday and regular Saturdays.
- Willingness to travel for out-of-town projects within Iowa and stay overnight when required, with advance notice.
- Ability to adapt to changing job sites and project requirements, sometimes working at one location for a week and then moving to another.
- Strong work ethic and motivation to go above and beyond in daily tasks.
- Comfort working in team environments of 5–8 people, taking direction from a foreman and collaborating with coworkers.
- Readiness to meet at the office each day to be assigned to a crew and deployed to the appropriate site.
- Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance and following the required dress code.
