Job Description
What you will be doing:

Prepare cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
Develop more economical ways to construct projects.
Provide comprehensive deliverables for major estimates.
Apply company processes and tools to develop project estimates.
Perform quantity survey of materials shown on project plans.
Read and outline project specifications.
Maintain an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate.
Support vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination.
Support the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.
Work collaboratively and create relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Gain self‑perform estimating experience.
Gain field operational exposure through onsite project support.
Prepare complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
Prepare material and other costs summary for quotes from vendors.
Track value creation items from development through inclusion and document in project documentation.
Develop and manage scopes of work for all trades.
Utilize knowledge of the project schedule and logistics in project estimates.
Assist with system analysis of building components and MEP systems.
Coordinate bid day summaries, general requirements and participate in project procurement presentations.
Collaborate with operations and field staff to develop more economical ways to construct projects.
Provide professional and comprehensive deliverables at the completion of each major estimate.
Improve project profitability opportunities by applying basic understanding of insurance structures, fees and rates.
Provide training and mentorship to others.

Experience you will need:

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred).
3+ years estimating experience.
Preference for total of 5+ years construction experience.
This candidate should have large general contracting experience and has worked on estimates from $80M-1.2B.
Intermediate communication skills, verbal and written.
Ability to conduct effective presentations.
Proficiency in MS Office with emphasis on strong Excel skills (Intermediate).
Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications (Intermediate).
Proficiency in construction estimating software (Intermediate).
Proficiency in required construction technology.
Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management (Intermediate).
Knowledge of field operations through project support.
Ability to prepare quantity surveys.
Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.
Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work (Intermediate).
Knowledge of self‑perform and labor productivity.
Ability to develop General Requirement estimates.
Ability to develop proficiency in Lens, Revit and/or ASE software.
Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
