Job Title: Digital News Editor, Successful Farming
About the PositionAdministers many of the daily tasks of , including updating the homepage, sending the newsletter, editing short videos, and posting to social media. Responsible for writing original articles on breaking news and new farm equipment for Also responsible for posting freelance and partner articles to the website.
Location & ScheduleHybrid 3×a week – Des Moines – This position is hybrid in‑office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.
Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results- 30% Covering news for , including writing articles, coordinating with the news and editorial team, and reporting on new equipment launches. Requires quick reaction to news and production of accurate, timely articles.
- 40% Executing on news distribution, including updating the homepage, posting to social media, producing social media videos, and sending the daily newsletter. Includes following best practices and using analytics to guide day‑to‑day decisions.
- 15% Coordinating posting freelance and partner articles to Includes editing articles to align with Successful Farming’s style and tone, following best practices to optimize for Google Discover, and adding multimedia such as interactive graphs, charts, and images.
- 15% Traveling to cover industry news events, including new product launches.
Job Requirements
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Ag Communications, and/or equivalent experience. - Experience:
3+ years of writing experience required. Experience with social media and using a content management system preferred. - Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
Attention to detail; ability to follow directions with minimal supervision; ability to consistently follow established strategic templates and editorial guidelines; ability to manage multiple projects/articles simultaneously; agriculture interest or background; self‑starter. - Travel Required (Approximate): 15%
