DESCRIPTION

At the YMCA, strengthening the community is our core mission. As a member services associate, you will support this mission by providing excellent service to members, guests, and program participants, fostering a welcoming environment at the Welcome Center and Lobby.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  • Conducts tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; performs basic member and program transactions.
  • Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
  • Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs the supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
  • Maintains lobby appearance and ensures safety measures are in place.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
  • Demonstrates and supports the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.
SHIFT SCHEDULE
  • Various shifts including early morning, mid‑day, afternoon, and evening during the week and weekends.
  • Maximum 20 hours per week.
PAY RATE
  • $11.00 - $13.00 per hour, based on qualifications.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Minimum six months of work experience involving cash handling.
  • Basic computer skills such as using a computerized time clock, viewing member accounts, and completing online training requirements.
  • Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or equivalent before starting.
  • Child Abuse Prevention Training prior to starting; maintained annually.
  • Training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained thereafter.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must adapt to frequently changing working conditions and maintain a flexible schedule.
