Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary function of a Customer Service Rep is to manage ongoing relationships with customers within a designated area by accepting freight, resolving issues, and maintaining customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers
  • Obtain and upkeep driver and company productivity goals are being met
  • Review a list on incoming trucks while speaking directly with customers to take load information and book freight on all available trucks
  • Maintain assigned territory of customers
  • Maintain and log pre-booked freight that cannot be immediately assigned
  • Contact new and existing customers to solicit additional freight, as necessary to load trucks within the designated area
  • Research and resolve customer inquiries and problem
  • Effectively communicate with customers, sales, fleet managers, and other internal personnel
  • Participate in total quality management and process improvement teams
  • Utilize web-based technology to gather and track operation data
  • Enter customer data and shipping instructions into a computer database
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS /

EXPERIENCE:
  • Four-year degree, preferably in Transportation and Logistics and/or relevant experience
  • Fluent in keyboard proficiency and 10-key
  • Ability to plan, organize, be attentive to detail and possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer solicitation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must be able to sit and use a telephone and computer simultaneously for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to speak and hear clearly in a high-volume telephone environment
