This opportunity entails being responsible for assisting with landscape, urban, and environmental design services. This position may support a variety of transportation‑related design and planning work for major infrastructure projects including roadway, bridge, park, and transit projects. Applies established methodologies and procedures to perform assigned tasks.

Our Central States office seeks a Landscape/Urban Designer I for Summer 2026.

• Conduct basic research and data collection.
• Assist in the development of conceptual, design development and construction‑level plans for urban design and landscape architecture (layout plans, planting plans, grading plans, and construction details) using CAD software.
• Assist in the development of graphics, presentation materials, and reports.
• Assist in the production of 3D visualizations using the latest software.
• Assist in stakeholder and public participation process.
• Maintain records, collections and files related to specific projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or related field.

• Demonstrates fundamental design and production skills with attention to detail, with direction from more experienced staff.
• Coordinate with team members and personnel within the firm on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.
• Compile estimating and take‑offs (i.e., area, quantities, costs, compliance) as requested from more experienced staff.
• Check calculations and drawings, reviewing the checklist of typicals. Perform updates based on the review of more experienced staff.
• Perform specific short‑term design applications.
• Maintain a working understanding of one or more CAD software (i.e., AutoCAD, Micro Station, etc.), 3D visualization software (i.e., Sketchup, Rhino, Lumion, etc.) and graphics software (i.e., Adobe Creative Suite).

• Master’s Degree – Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or related field.
• Prior internship in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or related field.
