Industrial Senior Project Architect; Northcentral

Job Overview

As part of HDR’s Architecture practice, you will lead the planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of multiple building types—including data centers, water treatment facilities, manufacturing plants, office spaces, and operations centers. You will partner with project managers, architects, planners, engineers, and technical experts to deliver projects that prioritize resilience, sustainability, and innovative building technologies.

• Be knowledgeable in technical design concepts, code applications, design management skills, digital technologies, and design workflows for industrial-type facilities.
• Lead owner/client and internal meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
• Lead project teams with varied levels of experience to successfully complete and deliver construction documents and intermediate milestone deliverables.
• Work with the Project Manager to proactively manage scope and schedule.
• Manage and undertake design activities and the production of detailed documents required for construction.
• Independently coordinate the work of a multidisciplinary team through all phases of a project.
• Review architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
• Perform QA/QC and cross-discipline technical reviews.
• Write and edit architectural specifications.
• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders.
• Incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents.
• Provide construction observation and contract administration as needed.
• Conduct work sessions at project site in conjunction with Client Representatives, Project Managers and other disciplines.
• Perform other duties as needed.

• Master’s degree in Architecture
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant prior experience in the areas of industrial architecture, such as data centers, water treatment facilities, public utility facilities, operations centers, aerospace, manufacturing, etc.
• LEED Accreditation with experience and/or interest in sustainable design
• Experience leading teams and mentoring junior staff
• Experience facilitating meetings with a range of stakeholders such as engineers, client, contractors, subcontractors, AHJs, etc.
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu
• Due to client contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
• A minimum of 10 years experience
• Registered Architect
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and processes
• Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
• Must have experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications
• Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills

Compensation ranges (full‑time):
Minnesota – $108,854 to $155,505;
Illinois – $114,037 to $162,910;
Colorado – $114,037 to $162,910.
