Des Moines University is seeking a physician educator with expertise in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care while shaping the next generation of osteopathic physicians. This role offers the opportunity to practice hands‑on medicine, mentor learners across multiple stages of training, and contribute meaningfully to a dynamic Primary Care Department committed to innovation, service, and whole‑person care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, with primary emphasis on Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM).
  • Serve as a clinical preceptor for third‑ and fourth‑year Des Moines University students and OMM Undergraduate Scholars, including evaluation of clinical competency and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with and support OMM/NMM residents in a collegial academic medical environment.
  • Teach and supervise didactics, lectures, and laboratory sessions; assist with course assessment and grading within the Primary Care Department.
  • Engage in clinical peer review, community outreach initiatives, university service (e.g., admissions, advising, committees), and complete all required institutional training and related responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Have earned a Doctor of Osteopathy or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an AOA‑accredited college of osteopathic medicine.
  • Board‑eligible or certified by the American Osteopathic Board of (specialty) or the American Board of (specialty).
  • If board‑eligible, must obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • Must possess significant experience in osteopathic manual medicine (e.g., completion of an undergraduate OMM fellowship/scholarship, experience teaching OMM, completion of an OMM/NMM residency, etc.).
  • Be a member in good standing in all appropriate professional and governmental organizations.
  • Possess license to practice in the State of Iowa, or be eligible to gain license to practice in the State of Iowa.
  • Have valid state and federal narcotics license or be eligible to gain these licenses.
  • Meet the eligibility requirements for malpractice coverage by the University malpractice insurance carrier.
