Job Summary:

The Music and Band Teacher provides engaging and developmentally appropriate music instruction for students in Preschool through 8th grade, fostering a love of music, creativity, and performance. The teacher develops foundational music skills in younger students and leads the band program for students in grades 5–8. This position collaborates with a part‑time band instructor who assists with small group and individual band lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver music instruction for students in Preschool through 8th grade aligned with school curriculum and standards.
• Teach fundamental music skills, including rhythm, pitch, singing, movement, listening, music literacy, and instrument exploration.
• Direct and manage the school band program for students in grades 5–8.
• Coordinate with the part‑time band instructor to organize lessons, instrument instruction, and student progress.
• Prepare students for concerts, performances, and school events throughout the year.
• Foster a positive and structured classroom environment that supports student engagement and behavior expectations.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Assess student progress and communicate learning outcomes to students, families, and school leadership.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support school‑wide initiatives and events.
• Maintain music classroom equipment, instruments, and materials.
• Support school liturgies, assemblies, or programs as appropriate.
• Supervise students and follow school safety and behavior policies.

Band Program Responsibilities

• Recruit and encourage student participation in band beginning in 5th grade.
• Organize band schedules and coordinate with the part‑time lesson instructor.
• Teach ensemble skills and conduct band rehearsals.
• Prepare students for concerts and performances.
• Monitor instrument care and student practice expectations.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding band participation and progress.
