Location: Northern California (onsite housing provided)
Position Type: Full-time, seasonal
Pay & Dates: From $5000 for May 12th-August 8th (required dates)
Optional shoulder work available April 1st-September 20th.

Camp Augusta is hiring Residential Summer Camp Counselors for an overnight, live-in summer camp in Northern California. This is a full-time seasonal role with housing, food, utilities, training, and certifications included.
This position is ideal for education majors, psychology majors, child development students, gap-year students, and aspiring teachers, therapists, and youth workers who want deep, hands-on experience in experiential education and youth development — and who may want to return for future summers.
We run nine weeks of camp serving 100 campers ages 8–16, supported by a 75-person co-ed staff community that values growth, challenge, play, and meaningful connections.
What You’ll Learn & Practice- Nonviolent Communication & conflict resolution
- Emotional intelligence & humanistic behavior management
- Flat hierarchy & sociocratic decision-making
- Group facilitation and experiential education
- Supporting children through meaningful emotional experiences
- 9 weeks of closely supported, real-world application
After extensive training, you’ll live onsite and support a cabin of five campers, guiding them throughout their session.
A typical day includes:
- Leading playful, themed and wacky Special Wake-Ups
- Teaching clinics you choose from 150+ options
- Designing a daily Cabin Activity
- Participating in immersive Evening Programs
- Facilitating childlike play during “Playstation”
- Ending each day with Evening Embers — reflection and connection
- Creating heartfelt gifts for campers and letters for parents

Minimum Requirements- At least 19 years of age by June 1, 2026
- Availability for at least May 12 – August 8
- Completion of 5–8 hours/week of pre-camp onboarding prior to arrival (Equivalent to a free university-level course in facilitation & communication)
- Experience working with children or youth:
At least 3 months in a comparable setting with kids, or 100+ hours of youth mentorship
- Background or interest in education, psychology, counseling, social work, or child development
- A wide range of hobbies, passions, or skills you re excited to share
- Interest in returning for future summers and leadership growth
