- Experience leading a show choir
Direct the show choir and work with the vocal music director to create programs and opportunities for students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Select appropriate teaching resources and show choir pieces for each group.
- Attend and participate in a minimum of five concerts/competitions.
- Plan the show choir calendar for the year, including contests, concerts, community performances and trips.
- Submit concert dates to curriculum coordinator by October 15th for approval in coordination with building administration.
- Prepare contest registrations, itineraries and required paperwork.
- Work with the choreographer and accompanist to develop an ensemble experience.
- Recruit, audition, and rehearse an instrumental ensemble to back‑up the band; if no instrumentalists are available, select appropriate backup music and obtain rights for performance and recording.
- Manage show choir uniforms and dress appropriate for students and music selection.
- Reserve and maintain rehearsal and performance space.
- Manage fees and budgets for the ensemble.
- Ensure all funds are secure and turned in promptly to the office manager.
- Organize auditions for the following school year, including incoming middle school participants.
- Submit reports and activity checklists to building and district administration as requested.
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
- Attend district‑wide meetings as requested.
