Title: Learning Supports Coordinator
Location: District Wide
Qualifications- Holds a valid Iowa teaching license
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience
- Educational leadership experience preferred
- Strong skills in communication, organization, and technology
- Demonstrated mastery or high level of expertise in teaching and use of current strategies and initiatives within content areas, with an emphasis on learning supports
- Successful experience leading collaboration and professional development
- Background in curriculum design and implementation acceptable
Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Job GoalTo provide leadership and support for the implementation of an aligned, PK-12 curriculum using effective instructional techniques. To work with school leaders in order to engage students in learning a challenging curriculum delivered through quality instruction. This curriculum includes programs that provide learning supports, including those for English learners as well as for gifted education and advanced learners.
Performance Responsibilities- Provide oversight and coordination of support programming. This includes, but is not limited to, leadership of:
- English Learners
- Talented and Gifted Education
- Title I
- Advanced Learners
- Equitable Support and Resources
- Assist the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in leading support and program teachers throughout all phases of the teaching and learning process
- Realize the vision, achieve the mission, and conduct/facilitate professional development and curriculum work according to the core values of the Southeast Polk CSD
- Develop relationships with students and families who would benefit from learning supports to meet academic goals
- Provide support and information to model teachers and instructional coaches in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment as it relates to learning supports
- Guide and focus the inquiry of model teachers and instructional coaches by guiding teacher discussion of strengths and weaknesses of student performance as a group, as individuals, by classrooms, and in disaggregated clusters
- Build district-wide understanding of content standards, how curricular components fit together, and how to use curriculum to plan instruction and assessment
- Use district-wide data in order to make district-level program, curriculum, and instructional recommendations to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction
- Take on leadership roles in district work involving particular divisions or departments, professional learning communities, data teams, collaboration, professional development, and peer review
- Within the Professional Development Steering Committee and using the IPDM model, lead the collaborative design, planning, conducting, and evaluation of all professional development activities
- Assist in the planning and implementation of all district-wide curriculum/instructional initiatives
- Participate in and provide direction in all instructional rounds events
- Serve on the District Professional Development Committee
- Serve in district-wide, ad hoc committee work
- Establish and demonstrate positive human relations with colleagues, parents, staff, and community by exhibiting leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Employed for 210 days
- Commensurate with those outlined in the negotiated SEPEA/SEPCSD agreement
