Job DescriptionDes Moines Public Schools is seeking a qualified Digital Learning Teacher for the 26-27 school year to serve elementary students (K-6). This part‑time position will begin in August 2026 and requires a teacher with a comfort and interest in teaching essential technology skills.
Hiring SpecificationsRequired:
- Valid Iowa teaching license (any K-6 endorsement).
- Previous classroom teaching experience.
- Experience with digital learning platforms and blended learning models.
Desired:
- Experience collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate technology.
- Background in developing and delivering digital literacy curriculum.
The Digital Learning Teacher serves as a key instructional leader in advancing digital literacy and innovative learning across the district. The role provides direct instruction to students in digital literacy skills, ensures alignment with the DMPS‑wide digital literacy curriculum, and collaborates closely with classroom teachers to co‑plan and co‑teach lessons that integrate technology in pedagogically sound ways. The teacher also partners with the Library & Digital Learning Associate and technology department to address building‑level technology needs that support instruction.
EssentialFunctions
- Deliver direct instruction in information literacy and digital literacy skills aligned with district standards.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into instruction in ways that enhance learning outcomes and reflect best practices in pedagogy.
- Co‑plan and co‑teach lessons that incorporate digital tools for personalized and blended learning experiences.
- Support teachers in selecting and implementing appropriate digital resources and instructional technologies.
- Promote responsible digital citizenship and ethical technology use among students and staff.
- Provide coaching and professional development on technology integration and digital literacy practices.
- Coordinate with the Library & Digital Learning Associate and technology department on building‑level technology needs.
- Demonstrate progress toward meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards while modeling innovative instructional practices.
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
