Job SummaryDes Moines Public Schools is seeking a qualified Instructional Coach for the 26-27 school year. The position will begin in August 2026 and includes a TLC Stipend of $4,050 (not included in the listed salary range).
Hirung SpecificationsRequired:
- Valid Iowa Teaching license
- At least three years of teaching experience, including one year with Des Moines Public Schools
- Demonstrated record of exceptional teaching skills reflected in student learning levels

- Master’s degree, preferably in effective teaching or adult learning/facilitation
- Experience and knowledge of designing, presenting, and facilitating adult learning experiences

Instructional Coaches support job-embedded professional development through collaborative and individual learning cycles to empower educators to reach student goals using research-based best practices in teaching and leading. Coaches use student-centered coaching techniques, engaging in co-planning, micro-modeling, coteaching, observing, providing feedback, and setting goals. They support the implementation of district initiatives that strengthen core instruction through a common language of effective teaching and learning practices.
Coaches meet regularly with teachers to engage in transformational coaching conversations to promote reflection about student work, instructional practices, and future instruction.
- Facilitate teachers’ understanding and implementation of the Iowa Core Standards through collaborative and individual learning cycles
- Collaborate with teachers to develop growth plans that include goals and measures of success
- Utilize coaching tools to support teacher growth and development
- Support teachers in analyzing instructional practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis, student work, coaching, and feedback
- Assist teachers in collecting evidence regarding instructional practice to provide clear feedback based on analysis of practice
- Develop teachers’ capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of data to improve instruction and student learning
- Assist the principal in developing and facilitating professional development for the school
- Foster collaboration and teacher leadership development
- Attend all district professional development on a regular and consistent basis
- Communicate regularly with the principal
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis
- Maintain confidentiality
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned

Eligibility and Additional InformationCitizenship, residency, or work visa is required. Position type:
Full-Time. Salary range: $51,500 to $80,000 per year. Bargaining group: DMEA. FLSA status:
Exempt.
