Job DescriptionDMPS is seeking a Math teacher for the 26-27 school year. Teachers with a Math or STEM endorsement, or those with a valid teaching license willing to obtain a conditional endorsement, are encouraged to apply.

TITLE: TCHR General Education Teacher K-12

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Valid Iowa teaching license with appropriate endorsement code for teaching assignment.
- Knowledge of subject, curriculum, effective teaching methods.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communications.
Desired:
- Previous classroom teaching experience.
- Experience in an urban school district.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for planning and delivering a high‑quality educational program to meet students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Deliver daily lessons aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ individual needs and ensure growth.
- Create a culturally inclusive classroom that meets the academic and social emotional needs of students.
- Participate in building and district professional learning communities to plan for instruction, analyze data, and create assessments.
- Monitor student learning on a daily basis and use multiple data points to guide and individualize instruction.
- Communicate with families on a regular basis.
- Participate in professional development.
- Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards.
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position):
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Administrator(s), Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education, Curriculum Coordinator
BARGAINING AGREEMENT: DMEA
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
FT/PT: Full Time (7.75 hour day), Contract days vary by assignment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing, walking, sitting, bending/stooping, reaching/pushing/pulling, lifting carrying
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mostly indoors with some outdoor responsibilities during recess and arrival/dismissal
