HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High School Diploma, HiSET or GED
- 18 years of age
- CPR, First Aid and Mandatory Reporter Certified
- Must have an Associate’s Degree, 2 years of experience in a child care setting, 15 hours of Child Development Related Training, or a combination as required by the Department of Human Services.
- Ability to use computer technology, including Microsoft Office tools and other district purchased software.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities at once.
Desired:
- Work or volunteer experience with children.
- Supervisory experience with school-age children.
- Bilingual
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Basic FunctionProvides daily supervision of the Metro Kids Program. Ensure the Department of Human Services Licensing regulations are met. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the Metro Kids Department.
Essential Functions- Administer quality Metro Kids programming while adhering to, and having a firm understanding of, District and program procedures, and Department of Human Services licensing regulations.
- Supervise, evaluate, and coach site staff and substitutes.
- Establish a positive, supportive, and working relationship with staff, students and parents/guardians.
- Successfully implement high-quality, hands‑on, engaging, and age‑appropriate academic, enrichment and recreational curriculum/programs and clubs; actively participate and engage in activities with students; not just supervise or observe.
- Ensure program guidelines and requirements of QRS are met including family nights, orientation, conferences, SACERS evaluations and improvement plans.
- Develop and maintain an effective level of communication with appropriate personnel, including program staff, school staff, district administrators, and the Coordinator. Maintain confidentiality of personnel and student information and records.
- Communicate program expectations and procedures clearly, effectively, and in a positive manner to staff, students, and parents/guardians.
- Accurately maintain and compile required site documentation, attendance and submit required reports to the Coordinator by established deadlines.
- Maintain open communications with parents and customers while providing exemplary customer care, and maintaining confidentiality and boundaries.
- Assist families in completing and submitting Department of Human Services Child Care Assistance paperwork. Assist families in setting up Good Faith Payment Plans and ensuring account balances are up‑to‑date.
- Firm understanding of program policies and procedures to respond appropriately to parent inquiries and concerns; and maintain student safety and security.
- Implement positive student behavior management techniques.
- Plan special event programming, field trips, and guest speakers.
- Ensure all Department of Human Service and District required trainings are maintained and up‑to‑date.
- Maintain high level of fairness, confidentiality, respect and equity with students, families and staff.
- Ability to partner with school staff to positively support the social, emotional and educational needs of the students.
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
