JOB SUMMARY:
The Building Associate supports teachers with the instruction and supervision of students by preparing student materials, performing basic clerical tasks, and assisting students with academics. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare and organize instructional materials and equipment with teacher guidance.
- Assist in the office by performing clerical duties such as answering phones, making copies, collecting monies for supplies, and delivering notes/messages.
- Provide instructional support to students by reinforcing teacher-directed learning through reading activities, guided practice, and individualized assistance while monitoring progress and communicating student needs to the teacher.
- Provide assistance with scheduling buses, field trips, and parent/teacher conferences.
- Use positive reinforcement techniques and strategies to assist in managing behavior throughout the school routine including transition times, lunch, and recess.
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and recess.
- Maintain attendance and cumulative records.
- Maintain professional learning and growth by attending provided training.
- Other duties, as assigned.
