The Joyce
E. Lillis School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, 12‑month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The role is focused on Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and involves curriculum development, clinical/lab/simulation instruction, scholarly engagement, and service to the school and community. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in nursing education and student success, with a focus on preparing practice‑ready graduates.
This on‑campus position may offer limited hybrid flexibility and initial teaching will be primarily in the pre‑licensure pathways (ASN, BSN, and ABSN) to guide students in building essential knowledge, skills, and professional competencies for entry to practice.

DescriptionSign‑on bonus: $3,000 (subject to statutory limits).
Essential Functions- Prepare and deliver didactic, lab, simulation, and clinical instruction, setting high academic standards and utilizing synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid formats.
- Use various assessments to evaluate student mastery of course and program outcomes.
- Provide timely feedback on student progress to facilitate academic success.
- Prepare and submit required documentation, including course syllabi, attendance, final grades, and any additional information requested by the school.
- Maintain professional development and growth to meet personal and licensure requirements.
- Participate in school and college committees and task forces; mentor faculty and serve as faculty advisor to student organizations as assigned.
- Perform other duties and projects related to the school’s mission, core values, and goals.
Skills And Abilities
Required
- Master’s degree in nursing; doctorate preferred.
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification ideal.
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience providing direct patient care.
- Academic teaching experience preferred.
- Valid and current Iowa Nursing License.
- Demonstrated ability in managing, leading, or training others.
- Ability to utilize appropriate, varied, and innovative teaching strategies.
- Experience in project development and management.
- Excellent relationship‑building skills.
