Job Summary

The General Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a high‑quality educational program to meet students’ academic and social‑emotional needs. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver daily lessons, aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ individual needs and ensure growth.
  • Create an engaging, affirming, and meaningful classroom environment that meets the academic and social‑emotional needs of students.
  • Participate in building and district professional learning communities to plan for instruction, analyze data, and create assessments.
  • Monitor student learning on a daily basis. Use multiple data points to guide and individualize instruction.
  • Communicate with families on a regular basis.
  • Participate in professional development.
  • Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
