Brother 2 Brother (Stipend)

This position is an INST with a stipend amount of $3528.00. The basic function of this role involves leading, developing, and inspiring high achieving male students of color by coordinating and implementing operations, activities, and curriculum designed to increase the number of students who successfully complete middle school and graduate from both high school and college. Sponsors will also work to encourage students to make positive life choices, improve behavior, achieve academic success, and become leaders in their schools and communities.

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience leading or working in programs that serve and deal with subjects relevant to diverse student populations.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communication.
• Skills in leadership, organization, problem solving, and human relations.
• Demonstrated ability to have effective conversations with a group of students while navigating difficult topics.

Desired:

• Currently involved in community organizations.

Essential functions include providing oversight for building-level chapters, coordinating and facilitating workshops, attending and supervising district, cultural, and academic field trips, meeting performance targets, developing relationships with community members, participating in training sessions, monitoring student performance, inputting curriculum into Canvas, holding regular meetings with students, communicating with students, parents, and the community, attending meetings as directed, monitoring income and expenses, submitting reports and activity checklists, and demonstrating personal standards of honesty, integrity, flexibility, and responsibility.

Additional essential functions for every DMPS position include attending work on a prompt and regular basis, maintaining confidentiality, maintaining satisfactory and harmonious working relationships, and assisting with other duties as may be assigned.

The department is the Activities Office, and it reports to the Minority Programs Specialist. The FLSA status is Exempt, and it is a part-time position. Physical requirements include standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, and computer use. Working conditions are mostly inside.
