City Year seeks Ameri Corps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class academic support in math and literacy under the guidance of teachers
  • Tutor students one-on-one and in small groups to reinforce key concepts
  • Build positive, consistent relationships with students to support social-emotional development
  • Track and document student progress and participation using program tools
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and teammates to plan and deliver interventions
  • Support school-wide initiatives, events, and positive school climate activities
  • Assist with after-school or enrichment programs, as assigned
  • Participate in ongoing City Year and Ameri
  • Corps trainings and professional development
  • Communicate with families and caregivers to support student engagement, when appropriate
  • Model City Year's values of service, inclusion, and social justice in the school community
