Design Manager Job Description
As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing design activities for assigned development projects, ensuring that they are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. You will engage in contract negotiations, design programming, and scheduling the design process while maintaining the budget and ensuring designs allow efficient management by operations.
Responsibilities- Manage the design process and coordinate all design disciplines.
- Ensure that scheduling, cost, quality, aesthetics, and design functionality meet the needs of the Project Development Manager.
- Negotiate contracts and manage design programming.
- Schedule and oversee the design process, maintaining design within the established budget.
- Ensure design allows efficient management by operations.
- Proficiency in Revit and design software.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience in architecture, healthcare design, and residential design.
- Management skills and contract negotiation expertise.
Skills & Qualifications
- BA/BS in Architecture or Construction Management.
- Registered Architect or currently in the testing process.
- 5+ years of post-graduate experience in multi-family, healthcare, or hospitality projects.
This is an office-based role in Des Moines, with 30% travel required covering 33 states. Travel occurs every other week for 2-3 days at a time. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. You will work in a business professional environment and exercise a great deal of independent judgment and action with general direction from the Director of Design and specific project direction from the Project Development Manager.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr. Very competitive and above standard average.
