Position OverviewHDR is looking for a Project Manager to serve as our Iowa Data Center Lead in the Des Moines, IA office. The ideal candidate has experience focusing on client development and delivery of data center projects, with a proven background in successfully delivering data center and mission critical projects from upfront planning and pre-design through detailed design, construction services and commissioning.
This role supports HDR’s growing TMT (Tech, Media and Telecom) practice and requires the ability to develop and secure work from a global client base, while expanding HDR’s reputation within these markets. The individual will manage multi-disciplinary design teams from project conception to completion and will collaborate with Area and Regional Building Engineering Services Business Group Managers and the global TMT client management team.
Some travel to client sites or other HDR offices is required.
- Collaborate on development strategies, new business prospects, technical services, quality, and production methods and standards to achieve goals at the business group, region and company level
- Manage and lead project teams to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction
- Travel 10-20% to project sites, including international if needed
- Flexible work schedule to accommodate international project support
- Control project budget, scope, and schedule
- Ensure product deliverables meet quality standards
- Forecasting, invoicing and contract management
- Promote HDR through regular client interface
- Mission Critical staff recruiting, working closely with the Business Group Manager
- Create vital proposal content including scope, schedule and budget
- Lead HDR at interview presentations
- Work cooperatively with local office principal, other business group leads, technical directors and marketing managers
- Other technical / managerial tasks as assigned
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA)
- PMP Certification
- MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be a plus)
- Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, BIM
360 Docs, BIM
360 Field, and Bluebeam - Demonstrated leadership skills
- Relationships and experience with Mission Critical and/or Datacenters Facilities clients
- Advanced leadership and mentoring ability
- Advanced client relationship building skills
- Strong public speaking / presentation skills

Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 7 years related experience
- A minimum of 2 years project management experience
- Ability to interact with various design teams, with excellent organizational, project management and communication (written and verbal) skills
