Civil​/Structural Engineer

Rimkus is a worldwide leader in engineering and technical consulting. We are looking for a forensic consultant with civil/structural engineering expertise to join our growing team.

Provides forensic consulting services to insurance, legal, industrial, and other clients, assessing structural failures and building envelope issues, delivering written reports and expert testimony, and managing multiple projects.

• Investigate and analyze residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters.
• Perform forensic assignments within civil/structural engineering based on scope and budget.
• Conduct field investigations to determine causes, gather photographic evidence, document conditions, conduct interviews, oversee testing, review drawings, contracts, specifications, and historical documentation.
• Prepare oral and written reports documenting causes of failures, extent of loss, repair scope, and provide expert testimony.
• Manage multiple projects, coordinate with other experts, and produce client reports promptly.
• Ensure procedures are followed and perform safety and due diligence during project completion.
• Initiate, develop, and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.

• S. Civil or Structural Engineering degree or higher.
• Engineer in the state of employment or ability to obtain quickly.
• National Certification in Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years of experience.
• Experience in project management and/or field investigation preferred.
• Other licenses or certifications may be required depending on location.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• High level of analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact and communicate with clients at all levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering/design software.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific, technical, legal and financial reports.
• Proficiency writing scopes of work, budgets, schedules, reports, proposals, and technical correspondence.
• Ability to respond to inquiries and present information to management, clients, and boards.

• Work in office and various outside locations; may involve standing, walking on roofs, climbing ladders, bending, carrying up to 50 lbs, driving, etc.
• Exempt position; regular hours 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, with one‑hour lunch; overtime may be required.
• Travel up to 50% local/regional; less than 5% outside area, including overnight stays.
