Estimator / Mechanical Project Coordinator

Des Moines, IA
The Estimator / Project Coordinator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and coordinating awarded projects from bid through completion. This role supports commercial and industrial projects by analyzing plans, managing bids, coordinating resources, and supporting project execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare material, labor, and equipment estimates
Prepare preliminary and detailed project estimates and bid packages
Coordinate awarded projects including scheduling, resource planning, cost tracking, and billing
Participate in the bidding process and review subcontractor bids
Conduct job‑site assessments as needed
Collaborate with customers, vendors, project managers, and internal teams
Track project progress and report cost or schedule variances
Support production and project teams to meet timelines and commitments
Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of relevant experience
General understanding of HVAC mechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency with computers and database software; experience with Microsoft Office required
Office‑based role with some site visits
Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
