HVAC & Mechanical Project Manager
The HVAC & Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing commercial and/or industrial HVAC and mechanical construction projects from kickoff through completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with quality and safety standards while maintaining strong client relationships.
This individual will manage multiple projects simultaneously and serve as the primary point of contact between internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full lifecycle of HVAC/mechanical projects including design, budgeting, scheduling, and execution
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts
- Coordinate with engineering, field teams, subcontractors, and vendors
- Oversee procurement of materials and equipment
- Ensure compliance with local codes, safety standards, and company policies
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Review and approve drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide regular project updates
- Drive profitability by managing costs, labor, and project scope
- Lead project closeout including punch lists, documentation, and final billing
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC/mechanical construction or project management
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, piping, ductwork, and mechanical installations
- Experience with commercial and/or industrial projects
- Proficiency in project management software (Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, etc.)
- Strong understanding of budgeting, estimating, and cost control
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
- PMP certification (a plus)
- Experience with design-build projects
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit
- Lean construction or Six Sigma experience
