Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking an Antenna Maintenance Supervisor to support a government contract based on the island of Diego Garcia.
PURPOSE / SCOPEThe Antenna Maintenance Supervisor (AMS) is responsible for supervision and performance of antenna maintenance, installation and repair, ensuring PM / AIMP execution. AMS will be responsible for accompanying personnel in secured areas with NCTS. Will perform duties to ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Inspection and maintenance of designated fixed and semi-fixed antenna structures (i.e. communications, bore sight, and Lightning Protection System (LPS).
- Perform minor and surface corrosion during preventive maintenance activities for facilities, equipment, infrastructure (including antenna structures), and system components.
- Perform corrective maintenance and corrosion control on facilities, systems, infrastructure, towers, and equipment consistent with the Program maintenance plans and crane / tower management plans
- Perform corrosion control on antenna structures and towers at AAAF, which will involve climbing and working at full height IAW required OSHA standards
- Conduct heavy metal sampling and sample analysis before facility renovation or demolition and maintain a database of sample results
- Maintain tower structural reliability by inspecting to full height
- Inspect the Lightning Mitigation System (LMS) and certify for operational effectiveness
- Inspect facility grounding at facilities assigned to the Contractor and shall report results as directed by Program leadership and PWS
- Maintain aircraft safety warning lights and associated hardware on all towers
- Maintain antennas, antenna structures and towers that are individually supported by, located on top of, or attached to facilities and structures
- Perform other duties as assigned
The Antenna Maintenance Supervisor will be available within 30 minutes to meet with Government personnel and / or Program leadership as required 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in this role.
QUALIFICATIONS- Engineer or technician with antenna and outside plant experience in varied types of High Frequency (HF) antenna systems with emphasis on antenna maintenance, installation, testing and documentation of results.
- It is required that the antenna supervisor will successfully complete before or within six months of assignment, "Basic Corrosion," a five-day course of instruction sponsored by the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) International Institute or equivalent training or technical expertise in corrosion control methods and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years’ experience in Antenna Maintenance and Operations as outlined
- Three years’ experience in a supervisory role in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office products
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport and driver's license throughout employment in this role
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring
- Ability to successfully pass the medical contract requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.
