What You'll Do
This role leads the Variable Annuity (VA) actuarial team within Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS), providing actuarial leadership and accountability for business outcomes across both Registered Index-Linked Annuities (RILA) and Traditional VA products. You will shape strategy, drive aligned execution, and influence business results across pricing, risk management, and in‑force performance.
- Lead a team of approximately seven actuarial specialists, including direct oversight of pricing and financial reporting functions.
- Integrate pricing, assumptions, modeling, and analytics to deliver a unified view of business performance.
- Provide actuarial oversight of financial reporting (U.S. GAAP and VM‑21), ensuring accuracy and actionable results.
- Evaluate key drivers—markets, policyholder behavior, hedging—and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
- Partner cross‑functionally with product, investments, finance, and risk to influence strategy, align on assumptions, and drive results.
- Advance process and analytics improvements, ensuring rigor in methodologies and governance.
- Build bench strength and develop future leaders within a matrixed environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
- Must be a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or an equivalent mandatory qualification, or an Enrolled Actuary with 10+ years of actuarial experience.
- In‑depth knowledge of actuarial specialty laws, regulations, and professional standards (Actuarial Standards of Practice, AAA Code of Professional Conduct).
- Broad knowledge of multiple business areas and commitment to continuing education as required by SOA or AAA.
- Strong communication skills; must translate complex analysis into clear insights.
- Expertise in actuarial models, data, and analytical tools to support business decisions preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead experienced actuarial staff and operate at a strategic level.
- Integrate perspectives across pricing, financial reporting (U.S. GAAP/VM‑21), and risk management for a cohesive business performance view.
- Deep understanding of VA/RILA products and market risk drivers, translating them into business decisions.
- Proven effectiveness partnering across functions, including product, investments, finance, and risk.
- Track record of improving models, analytics, and processes to enhance decision‑making.
- Salary range (Non‑Exempt hourly; Exempt yearly): $157,000 – $213,000.
- Optional bonus programs for non‑sales positions; sales positions eligible for incentives.
- Flexible Time Off (FTO) for salaried employees—entitled to paid vacation, personal, or short‑term illness time.
- Hybrid work model (at least three office days per week) with remote options for qualifying locations.
- Pension eligible.
