Equity Analyst What You’ll Do
We’re looking for an Equity Analyst to join the Aligned Investors team. Aligned Investors is a long‑term, fundamental investment team with ~$53bn in AUM across two U.S. equity strategies:
Principal Mid Cap and Principal Blue Chip. Our approach focuses on investing in high‑quality businesses with durable competitive advantages led by owner‑operators and excellent management teams. The analyst team plays a central role in our process through deep, proprietary fundamental research. This is a generalist role; a technology background would be beneficial.
- Conduct deep fundamental research on U.S. equities and industries.
- Evaluate competitive dynamics, industry structure and trends impacting existing and potential investments.
- Monitor portfolio holdings and identify new investment opportunities.
- Develop and communicate differentiated perspectives and recommendations to the Portfolio Managers.
- 4+ years of public or private equity investment experience, ten or more preferred.
- Demonstrated experience conducting deep fundamental research on individual companies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience interacting with management teams and industry experts.
- MBA or CFA designation.
- Technology sector experience.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and valuation (Excel).
- Fluency with applying Artificial Intelligence tools in the equity research process.
- Self‑starter with the ability to independently drive the research process.
- Passion for investing and alignment with Aligned Investors’ investment philosophy.
- Willingness to travel for company visits, conferences, and research.
Base salary range: $141,000 – $285,000 per year. Compensation may include an annual bonus based on performance. Salary will be determined based on location, experience, education, licensure requirements, and skill level.

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees with pay for vacation, personal, or short‑term illness. Employees do not accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days. Pension eligible.
Strong preference for role to be based in Des Moines, IA. Open to remote arrangement or office in New York, Chicago, Denver, or Seattle. Candidates outside Des Moines required to work in Des Moines office for an initial period and ongoing frequent travel.
