Program Planner 2 – Engagement Coordinator

This is a non‑merit position. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird seeks a Program Planner 2 in the Victim Assistance Section to serve as the Engagement Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

• Develop relationships with law enforcement, prosecutors, victim services, and other stakeholders supporting victims and holding offenders accountable.
• Collaborate with members of the Training and Outreach team to close gaps in stakeholder knowledge about the Victim Assistance Section’s programs.
• Present and regularly update the basic training of Victim Assistance throughout Iowa.
• Represent the Attorney General’s Office and Victim Assistance Section at conferences and events statewide.
• Assist the Strategy and Compliance manager in discretionary grant reporting, searching and applying for future discretionary grants.
• Maintain grant data entry for Training and Outreach activities and complete quarterly reports.
• Conduct regular community outreach and support.
• Work with law enforcement, prosecutors, victim service agencies, and state and local agencies to improve training and outreach activities.
• Modernize and routinely review Victim Assistance Section outreach materials (brochures, pamphlets, signs, training catalog, giveaway items).
• Disseminate outreach materials to offices statewide and manage inventory.
• Complete other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements and Preferences:

• Victim‑centered and supportive of law enforcement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with presenting and training.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer use.
• Friendly, courteous, familiarity with the criminal justice system, and passion for helping crime victims.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout Iowa.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

• Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in any field.
• A total of four years of education and/or full‑time experience, where one year of full‑time experience in the administration or operation/execution of a program equals thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field.
• Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full‑time work as a Planning Aide.
