Overview
We are looking for an efficient, flexible, and highly motivated Pharmacist to join our team. Requirements of this part-time role include some Saturdays and PRN call-in, as needed. This role will be used to fill vacation coverage. The PRN Pharmacist will stay in the Des Moines and surrounding areas, including but not limited to Medicap locations in Des Moines, Indianola, Ames, and Boone.
Responsibilities- Interpret written prescriptions, check for drug interactions and allergies, enter prescription and patient data into Pioneer Software, and provide prescription information to Pharmacy Technicians for filling. Supervise Technicians and check all work for accuracy.
- Counsel patients by phone and in person. Convey pertinent information on how and for how long medications should be taken. Answer patient questions. Consult with other health care professionals and conduct research as necessary to ensure services are in the patient’s best interests and compliant with professional standards and state laws.
- Review inventory daily. Place orders for medications as necessary. Maintain adequate supplies without overstocking.
- Ensure proper billing occurs when pharmacist is on duty in compliance with insurance plans, CMS, and/or board of pharmacy requirements.
- Counsel patients to ensure understanding of treatment programs and achievement of treatment goals. Meet with patients face-to-face to discuss disease state and treatment options; answer questions to ensure understanding.
- Maintain current state pharmacy license.
- Maintain working knowledge of all aspects of computer systems and cash register usage.
- Contribute to store competitiveness and profitability by controlling operational expenses and maximizing sales.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and develop professional relationships with patients, customers, and co-workers.
- Comply with security and loss prevention procedures, including setting alarms and securing the safe.
- Maintain a perpetual Schedule II inventory.
- Complete third-party rejections as needed.
- Maintain daily and weekly reports.
- In the case of dispensing incidents, follow company procedures for notification and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all company procedures and federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Bachelor's level degree in Pharmacy or Pharm
D from an accredited Pharmacy College. - Active and unrestricted Pharmacy license in the state.
- One to two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Pioneer Software.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
