Medicaid Policy Specialist – Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Medicaid

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Medicaid, is seeking a Medicaid Policy Specialist to lead initiatives focused on Pediatric and Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) programs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the health and well‑being of Iowa’s children and families.

Location:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, reporting to the Lucas Building in Des Moines two (2) days per week - Education & Licensure: Nursing degree with eligibility for Iowa licensure.
- Experience: Knowledge of Medicaid policies and processes; clinical experience in pediatric care and treatment planning.
- Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to present complex information clearly.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and occasional travel for stakeholder meetings and conferences.
- Work on programs that directly improve access to care for children and youth.
- Collaborate with dedicated professionals and community partners across Iowa.
- Enjoy a flexible hybrid schedule with two days per week at the beautiful Capitol Complex in Des Moines.
- Develop, review, and implement Medicaid policies for pediatric and EPSDT programs.
- Collaborate with providers, educators, and internal teams.
- Interpret federal and state regulations and recommend program improvements.
- Research best practices and monitor program performance.
- Applying clinical benefits in practice.
- Assessing and diagnosing medical needs for individuals under 21.
- Communicating technical information to diverse audiences.
