Salesforce System Architect
Location: Hybrid (Des Moines, Iowa) (Fargo, North Dakota)
Employment Type: Full-Time
We’re looking for a Salesforce System Architect to serve as a senior technical authority for our Salesforce ecosystem. This is a platform-focused architecture role for someone who loves shaping how Salesforce is built, not just building features. You’ll guide technical direction across multiple Salesforce clouds, influence delivery teams through mentorship and design leadership, and help establish strong internal ownership of the platform.
While you won’t be spending your days writing production code, you’ll stay close to the technology – reviewing designs, validating implementations, and stepping in when the complexity is high. This role is ideal for a seasoned Salesforce technologist who wants to operate at the system and platform level, with real influence over standards, scalability, and long‑term health of the ecosystem.
You'll Do Platform Architecture & Technical Direction
- Define and evolve Salesforce architecture across multiple clouds and business capabilities
- Translate high‑level solution designs into Salesforce‑specific system patterns
- Establish and enforce platform standards, best practices, and guardrails
- Act as the go‑to technical decision maker for Salesforce architecture within delivery teams
- Provide hands‑on technical guidance to Salesforce developers without direct people management
- Review and approve complex designs, automation strategies, and implementation approaches
- Mentor teams on Apex, Flows, Lightning Web Components, and declarative‑first solutions
- Serve as the escalation point for challenging Salesforce technical issues
- Work directly with agile teams and participate in sprint ceremonies
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and QA to ensure sound technical solutions
- Help break down large initiatives into technically feasible and scalable user stories
- Reduce delivery risk through early architectural involvement
- Design integration approaches using APIs, events, asynchronous patterns, and data synchronization strategies
- Ensure strong data models, data integrity, and lifecycle management across systems
- Define Salesforce security models, including access control, authentication, and authorization
- Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and operational expectations
- Define development, testing, and deployment standards for Salesforce teams
- Partner with Dev Ops to support CI/CD, environment management, and release quality
- Guide performance optimization and governor limit management
- Support incident analysis and continuous improvement efforts
- Deep experience with Salesforce development and configuration, including Apex, Flows, LWC, data modelling, and security
- Strong understanding of platform limits, scalability, and performance optimization
- Experience applying structured design patterns and declarative‑first approaches
- Proven ability to design Salesforce solutions in complex, integrated environments
- Strong grasp of application, data, integration, and security architecture
- Comfortable making thoughtful tradeoffs within architectural constraints
- Ability to influence and mentor technical teams without formal authority
- Strong communication skills across both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Comfortable leading design discussions and architecture reviews
- Experience with Service Cloud and/or Financial Services Cloud
- Exposure to Omni‑Channel or Omni Studio
- Experience with complex automation frameworks or rules engines
- Salesforce CI/CD and automated testing experience
- Background in regulated industries (financial services, insurance, healthcare)
- Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer II, JavaScript Developer I, Architect credentials)
This position offers a senior technical career path for Salesforce professionals who want to focus on architecture, mentorship, and long‑term platform health – without moving into people management. Success here opens the door to broader solution architecture responsibilities in the future.
