The Project Manager leads the planning, governance, and delivery of multiple IT projects within aPMO environment. This role is accountable for project scheduling, resourcing,vendor coordination, funding requests, and status reporting, while ensuring adherence to established governance, quality standards, and project deliverables. The Project Manager partners with cross-functional business and technology teams,including senior leadership and state-level committees, to deliver initiatives aligned with departmental and legislative priorities.
Accountabilities (Outcome ownership)
- Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and delivery roadmaps
- Deliver projects within approved scope, timelines, funding, and quality standards
- Produce accurate, transparent project status reporting using standardized PMO mechanisms
- Identify, manage, and escalate project risks, issues, and dependencies
- Oversee vendor procurement,implementation coordination, and required funding requests
(Actions taken to meet outcomes)
- Partner with, educate, anddrive business, platform, and IT teams across the State, including senior leadership and government committees
- Lead multiple concurrent work efforts with minimal supervision and meet delivery commitments infast-paced environments
- Gather and define complex business and technical requirements and translate them into sequenced,actionable work plans
- Identify, request, and onboard required project resources
- Coordinate procurement ofvendor products and implementation services
- Facilitate project meetings,working sessions, and governance reviews
- Communicate project status,risks, issues, and decisions clearly across all stakeholder levels
- Manage scope, risks, issues,and dependencies to protect delivery of agreed-upon outcomes
- Provide expertise to improve portfolio, project, and program management processes
- Adjust priorities and deliverables in response to leadership, departmental, and legislative direction
- Perform other duties or tasksas assigned by management
- Direct management of system integration projects.
- Ability to motivate team andmeet deadlines
- Experience managing stakeholder expectations and priorities.
- Experience working within aproject governance structure (methodology, required templates and reporting).
- Extensive experience with planning, managing and tracking multiple major impact projects.
- Strong process development skills, w/ the ability to learn and understand concepts in order to interpret, document and formalize procedures.
- Strong process and gap analysis skills.
- Excellent project management skills, w/ the ability to multitask and manage multiple tasks with changing priorities in a cross-functional environment.
- Demonstrated experience with working with business users to gather and document business requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and project activities simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
