Location and Travel: This position is open to candidates located in Wisconsin (preferred) or nearby states such as Minnesota, Iowa, or Illinois. Frequent travel to Wisconsin is required (estimated 30%‑50% of the time).
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Extreme Network Engineer III with deep expertise in Extreme Networks technologies to join our Professional Services team. This role is critical in delivering high‑value design, upgrade, and implementation projects for our customers. As a trusted technical advisor, you will lead complex engagements, ensuring successful outcomes that align with client business objectives.
Responsibilities- Be responsible for customer installations and configurations and create customer‑facing High‑Level Designs and detailed Low‑Level Designs.
- Be the networking technical lead on customer projects.
- Design, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot the following vendor technologies:
- Extreme Networks routers, switches, wireless, and management platforms:
- Extreme Fabric Engine (VOSS) & Switch Engine (EXOS) including SPBM/ISIS, OSPF, BGP.
- Extreme XIQ Cloud Platform ONE.
- Extreme XIQ‑Site Engine, Control Engine (NAC), and Analytics.
- Extreme wireless controllers and APs.
- Juniper routers and switches (EX, MX, SRX) – plus.
- HPE Aruba routers, switches, and wireless including Aruba Central, AOS‑CX, Clearpass – plus.
- Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls – plus.
- Extreme Networks routers, switches, wireless, and management platforms:
- Build templates for automation of equipment roll‑outs by other staff members.
- Work with the Account team as SE support and as SME when needed.
- Work with the prime SE on network designs.
- Serve as a 3rd‑level resource for our Tech Support engineers.
- 7–10 years of experience in a field support, professional services, or technical support role.
- Heavy experience with Juniper routers and switches and migrations from VPLS to EVPN with knowledge of Juniper Apstra.
- Strong knowledge of Layer 2, Layer 3 routing protocols MPLS, EVPN, VXLAN, BGP, OSPF, etc.
- Ability to use scripting to configure networking devices.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols.
- Data center routing and switching experience required.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong account management and customer communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Extreme commitment to customer service and enhancing the customer experience.
- Excellent computing skills, including Linux.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize customer support tools/resources.
