As a Platform Engineer supporting the Digital Workforce & BI Tools teams, you will play a pivotal leadership role in helping Wellmark maximize the value of AI, automation, and modern workplace technologies across the enterprise. Rather than focusing solely on building solutions, you will serve as a strategic advisor, thought leader, and workforce enabler—partnering with business leaders, citizen engineers, and technology teams to identify opportunities, solve complex business challenges, and accelerate responsible adoption of emerging capabilities.

This role serves as a bridge between business and technology, helping teams navigate ambiguity, evaluate possibilities, and translate business needs into scalable solutions. You will work closely with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to cultivate a thriving citizen engineering community, empowering employees to leverage automation, AI, and low‑code technologies in ways that drive measurable business value.

As a subject matter expert in the Microsoft ecosystem, you will maintain deep knowledge of the Microsoft 365 platform, including Copilot, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, and emerging AI and automation capabilities. You will continuously evaluate new features, roadmap developments, and industry trends, recommending how Wellmark should adopt, enable, and govern these technologies. Working in partnership with architecture, security, compliance, and business leaders, you will help define the strategic direction for enterprise AI and automation capabilities while ensuring solutions align with organizational standards and risk requirements.

A key responsibility of this role is partnering with other AI Center of Excellence teams to establish and evolve governance frameworks, guidelines, and guardrails that enable responsible and effective use of AI, automation, and agent‑based technologies across the organization. You will help shape policies, best practices, and adoption strategies that balance innovation with security, compliance, and operational excellence while fostering confidence in the use of emerging technologies.

• Preferred:
  Experience working within an Agile team environment
• Leadership typically gained through a combination of project and informal leadership that demonstrates competencies
• Experience partnering with global staffing vendors to deliver projects
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Power BI (including DAX and data modeling)
• Experience with a cloud data platform such as Fabric, Azure SQL/Synapse, Databricks, or Snowflake
• Experience with Azure Ecosystem tools (e.g., Synapse, data factory, onelake)
• Understanding of data architecture and warehousing concepts

• Minimum 7 years of experience to include any combination of the following

• Providing innovative solutions to complex issues
• Minimum 4 years of experience in IT infrastructure, architecture design, operations
• Proven ability to adapt when experiencing major changes in work tasks or work environment.
• Informal leadership experience typically gained through leading projects.
• Demonstrated experience coaching/mentoring others by providing guidance and feedback to help an employee or groups of employees strengthen their knowledge and skills to accomplish a task or solve a problem
• Proven experience with designing technical architecture and keeping abreast of existing and emerging technologies.
